Hilton / Garden Inn - Frankfurt

Germany

Sleeper Magazine January / February 2011

At 660 metres long, JSK Architekten’s The Squaire development at Frankfurt Airport has been described as “a horizontal skyscraper.” The glass enclosed building is designed to integrate air and rail travel in Frankfurt, one of the world’s leading transport hubs, by providing an important link between Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1 and the ICE high speed rail network.

The centrepiece of the project is a two hotel property, comprising a Hilton and a Garden Inn, both designed by interiors firm JOI Design, which Hilton is describing as “a successor to the airport hotel model it invented in 1959.”

According to Hilton, the Frankfurt Airport hotel, along with other recent airport hotel openings in Chicago and Beijing, represents a “bold new wave” of sleeker, leisure-oriented airport hotels, designed to be more relevant to today’s travelers, by providing more leisure add-ons, chic style, luxury touches and inviting spaces into the mix without compromising its business offerings.

Key features of the Frankfurt property include a dramatic, light-flooded atrium lobby, 249 guestrooms and suites, and 10 meeting rooms featuring rich, warm colour palettes. Two Executive Floors come with access to an exclusive Executive Lounge, which pairs elegant, contemporary design with lounge services including private check-in and check-out, international newspapers and magazines, continental breakfast and refreshments throughout the day.

The Rise Restaurant offers upscale international cuisine, local German delicacies and a premium wine selection in a space with a cozy, modern ambiance, whilst The Fifth  Lounge & Bar is a sleek, open-air space that serves international fare and small plates.   Wellness offerings include a sauna, steam room, whirlpool, and solarium as well as a 24-hour fitness centre.

The hotel also offers a skywalk connection to Frankfurt Airport’s Terminal 1 and enjoys direct access to the ICE railway station with more than 185 daily high-speed rail links across Europe.
