Langham Hotels International has announced it will open Langham Place Pazhou, Guangzhou – the only hotel connected to the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center, Asia’s largest exhibition venue, in 2013.

The property is the twentieth in Langham’s fast growing portfolio and has been designed by architects Aedas as part of a new mixed-use development adjacent to the exhibition centre. Langham Hotels International has signed a management agreement with Hong Kong property developer, Nan Fung Group, which is also developing a sister tower of similar structural design for commercial use.

The 488-room hotel will feature interiors from Yabu Pushelberg, including large meeting spaces such as a 3,000m2 Great Room. Langham Place will link to the city and its neighbours with its own entrance to the subway station and is the only property linked directly to the exhibition centre, with its own private air-conditioned walkway.
Brett Butcher, Chief Executive Officer of Langham Hotels International said: “Together with Nan Fung Group, we are creating China’s most stimulating hotel in what is already being hailed as an iconic architectural design, delivering international guests a recognisable and innovative brand from which to do business in the region or enjoy an inspiring getaway.”

Mandy Gao, General Manager of Guangzhou Zhan Feng Real Estate Development Company (a subsidiary of Nan Fung China) added: “It was important for us to work with a partner who would understand our desire to create one of the most talked-about properties in China and bring a brand that matched our iconic outlook to inspire the guests today and meet their needs for tomorrow. Langham Place meets those criteria.”

Within the hotel, a signature Cantonese restaurant with 13 private rooms spans two floors. There is also an international restaurant, a lifestyle restaurant and bar built above the lobby atrium, and a speciality restaurant, Cigar Room, Private Dining and entertainment club.

The hotel will also introduce Portal – Work & Play – a new lounge bar concept, and the group’s signature Chuan Spa, with treatments based on the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Other leisure facilities include a semi-indoors swimming pool with a retractable roof.
