Taymouth Castle has been granted planning permission by the Perth and Kinross Council to build a world class hotel and exclusive collection of private residences on the Taymouth Castle estate, in addition to the original planning consent for the golf course.
The majestic Scottish golf & sporting estate of Taymouth Castle is undergoing a series of restoration and re-modelling projects by Meteor Asset Management to modernise the estate into a luxury highland community and golfing resort.
As one of the finest castles in Scotland dating back to 1552, Taymouth Castle has been restored to its former glory to showcase the wealth of historic gems from the stain glass windows to oak panelling. Further intricate restoration works are underway ahead of the scheduled opening by late 2012.
Planning permission has been granted to create a number of residential properties around the estate. The private residences have been designed by Aberfeldy-based architects McKenszie Strickland Associates to be sympathetic to the majestic Scottish landscape using a range of natural, vernacular materials.
Each residence will offer spectacular views over the golf course and surrounding landscape, including exclusive properties on the banks of the River Tay, all of which will be in a variety of sizes, styles & settings constructed using a range of natural materials.
The 1920’s James Braid golf course within the old deer park of the estate is also being restored and extended, bringing it in line with modern day expectations. Leading Scottish based golfer Stephen Gallacher, has been appointed to work with the Weller Design team about how best to bring the original 1920’s James Braid routing up to 21st century championship standards to maximise the opportunity presented by the 2014 Ryder Cup.
With the restoration of the East Wing of the castle into a hotel accommodation, restaurant and spa, Taymouth Castle will benefit the surrounding community by bringing significant investment to the area and create a unique sporting destination.
Tourism professor John Lennon predicted that over 300 jobs will be created and £30 million injected into the local economy annually.
Martin Mortimer, Development Manager at Taymouth Castle comments: “We are already in negotiations with leading hotel operators and the world’s top spa company, which will be able to finalise now that we have consent. We also have significant interest in the estate properties from potential buyers from around the world.”
Taymouth Castle offers the ultimate destination for potential buyer’s to invest in Scotland’s magnificent scenery, with a range of sporting and leisure facilities available, including shooting and salmon fishing on the River Tay, for those wishing for a luxury and active retreat in the countryside.
