The project will include work to the gallery and upper gallery levels of the main circulation and pre-function spaces as well as the introduction of a new bar and significant new lighting features. StructureTone will also be extensively upgrading back-of-house and public toilets.

The property, which originally opened in 1884 as a grand railway hotel serving Liverpool Street station, is a listed building. It is also surrounded by some of London’s busiest streets.

 However, Mark Ballantine, Executive for StructureTone’s Hotel Division, whose hotel fit-out experience includes projects at a number of the capital’s premier hotels, is familiar with the challenges these factors represent. “Issues of access and respect for the heritage of the building are frequently recurring features in hotel refurbishments as is the all-important need to avoid disruption to the guest experience when the hotel, as in this case, remains open throughout the works,” says Mark Ballantine. “We are delighted to have secured our first UK opportunity with Andaz Liverpool Street, working with Confluence PCM and Wilsdon Design Associates.”

Some of the main elements of the refurbishment will be: a dramatic new feature wall to the east end of the gallery space, a specially designed light feature introduced around the upper gallery level, restoration and refurbishment of existing flooring and timber panelling and a total re-fit of the toilets as well as the new bar.
