Metropol Group and Banyan Tree set to launch Montenegro island project
07 June 2009 GMT 09:01 (Montenegro)
Metropol Group, advised by the international real estate firm Savills, has entered into a cooperation agreement with hotel operator Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts for its Sveti Marko Island resort in Montenegro.
Sveti Marko Island will be Europe’s first integrated six-star island resort, and will further enhance Banyan Tree Hotels Group’s move into this continent. The Metropol Group will continue to invest in the project, whilst Banyan Tree Hotels Group will manage the hotel.
Alexis Delprat of Savills European hotels team says: “Banyan Tree Hotels’ input into this island site marks a significant boost for the luxury hotel sector and the setting will be ideal for a six-star resort. Backed by Metropol’s financial commitment we expect this project to commence in the next few months, despite the economic climate.”
Architectural, engineering, and construction management companies such as Woods Bagot, Arup, Bovis Lend Lease, Davis Langdon, and HVS are involved in the work on the project.
