Morgans Hotel Group to reinvigorate Delano
23 November 2011 16:28:56 GMT
Morgans Hotel Group, owner of Miami's Delanohotel, is updating the South Beach property with refreshed suites and bungalows, as well as announcing a partnership with The Light Group, on several new food and beverage outlets.
“There are countless properties that have opened since Delano, but none have remained as relevant today as they were the day they opened,” said Michael Gross, Morgans Hotel Group CEO. “We are happy to be updating this iconic property and partnering with The Light Group in refreshing Delano. We look forward to welcoming guests to experience the new venues and updated property. The Light Group’s success in Las Vegas is unparalleled and will be a welcome addition to both Miami and Delano,” said Gross.
The enhancements to the hotel will include the latest in technology with thoughtfully discreet new amenities allowing the property to maintain the iconic, award-winning design. Guests will be able to use their smart phones as keys to guest rooms while the hotel corridors will be updated, providing the ultimate decompression zone. Delano’s signature bungalows will be upgraded to create a sublime indoor/outdoor space that is ideal for both entertaining and relaxing in privacy.
Delano will also feature its in-room iPad concierge technology. Direct communication with hotel management via iPads enables a seamless stay at Delano, providing one touch access to hotel services including in-room dining, housekeeping, wake up calls, valet parking/bellman, internet, hotel information, transportation options, maps and directions.
Delano’s new signature restaurant, BIANCA, will offer a renovated interior with modern Italian fare.
Chef Brian Massie, a native New Yorker, will serve as BIANCA’s Corporate Executive Chef. With over 15 years of culinary experience, Massie has trained with mentors such as famed chef Lidia Bastianich and restaurateur Charlie Palmer, as well as participating in an apprenticeship with Gualtiero Marchesi, a pioneer in Italian cuisine at his Bella Vista Vineyards in Erbusco.
Bianca’s interior design will complement the essence of its light and fresh fare. With four different areas to dine and drink, including the main dining room, lounge, veranda and lobby, BIANCA will offer a variety of settings to satisfy all expectations. White walls juxtaposed by natural wood and refreshing green tones will create an invigorating twist on the restaurant’s smooth atmosphere.
BIANCA will feature extraordinary design elements, including its antique pillars imported from Southeast Asia, in addition to traditional Italian furniture with a contemporary twist. The windows will be flanked with natural wood blinds covered by gold linen drapes to allow an open and airy feel for guests that want to be part of the glitz and glamour of the iconic Delano. Complimenting Bianca, will be Blue Sea, a communal dining experience featuring sushi classics by chef Brian Massie. Delano’s Rose Bar will be re-introduced after a brief cosmetic face-lift, dusting off the old design and including richer fabrics and colors, all adding to the allure of the famed space. Delano’s new subterranean lounge, aptly named FDR, after the hotel's presidential namesake serves as a prerequisite to every high energy night in South Beach. It's an invited escape speaking to the need for sexy, evolved nightlife.
“We are excited to partner with Morgans Hotel Group in introducing our brand to South Florida,” says Andrew Sasson, CEO of The Light Group. “Our unique sense of style, attention to detail and cutting edge trends will be a perfect complement to the chic Delano,” says Sasson.
